Franklin Billy Gowan, of Fountain, Florida, passed away on April 4, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on March 16, 1939, in Glenwood, Georgia, to Irvin Gowan and Kate (Morrison) Gowan, who preceded him in death. Franklin was also preceded in death by all of his siblings, his brothers, Peewee, Edward, and Bobby Gowan, and his sisters, Jacqueline Gowan and Fern Gowan.
He is lovingly remembered by his only child, Delicia Dawn Gowan; his grandsons, Jason McClaren and Brison McPhail; and his great-grandchildren, Jackson McPhail, Bella McPhail, Braden McPhail, McKenzie McPhail, and Julianna McClaren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Payton Lewis.
Franklin was known for his remarkable musical talents and vibrant personality. A true charismatic entertainer, he began playing music in childhood alongside his brothers. Throughout his life, he shared his passion both on stage and in the recording studio, creating music that brought joy to many. He operated “Studio 7” in Smiths Station, Alabama, where he continued to produce and perform. In the entertainment world, Franklin earned the reputation of a “one-man show,” skillfully playing multiple instruments and captivating audiences with his energy and talent. His love for music and performing left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Franklin Billy Gowan will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of experiencing his music and spirit.
