George W. Gray Jr.

George W. Gray Jr. was born on February 5, 1958, in Decatur, Alabama. He passed away on September 10, 2026.

The son of the late George W. Gray Sr. and Maxie Gray, George moved with his family to Sneads, Florida, in 1969 Sneads became home, and it was where he grew up and spent much of his life.

George served with the Florida Department of Corrections for 30 years before retiring after a long career in public service. He was also a farmer for many years, and working the land remained an important part of his life.

The outdoors was where George was happiest. Above all, he loved riding his horses, but he also had a lifelong passion for hunting, fishing, boating, and spending time on the farm. Whether he was on horseback, in the woods, or on the water, George found a sense of peace and freedom outdoors that stayed with him throughout his life.

George is survived by his son, George W. “Trey” Gray III and his wife, Elizabeth, of Orlando; his grandson, George W. “Trevor” Gray IV; his sister, Phyllis; Mulkey and his nieces, Melissa Long, Sarah Cassidy, and Rachel Fujiyoshi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. Gray Sr. and Maxie Gray; and his nephew, Jacob Mulkey.

George leaves behind a life deeply connected to the outdoors, the land, and the community he called home for more than six decades. Those who knew and loved him will carry forward the memories, stories, and experiences they shared with him.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate George’s life on September 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. CST at Sneads Methodist Church fellowship hall. All are welcome to gather, share memories, and honor his life.
