James Nelson Alvarez, a man whose life was a testament to dedication and selfless service, passed away peacefully in his home in Florida on Sunday July 7, 2024, at the age of 71. James was born on August 8, 1952, in Bronx, New York. He was an extremely hard worker that exhibited an unwavering commitment to helping others in all aspects of his life. His journey of service began with United States Navy, at the age of 18 where he honorably served for eight years. He was driven by a profound sense of duty and love for his family and country. He transitioned to the United States Coast Guard, where he dedicated an additional twenty-two years to safeguarding our waters against drug trafficking and search and rescue operations. James's bravery and selflessness were not confined to his professional life. He was a wonderful loving, devoted father and husband. He always made time for his family. James's children and grandchildren remember him as their hero who was always present, always supportive, and forever encouraging them to be the best versions of themselves. His kindness, integrity, and compassion left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was loved by many. James was a beacon of hope and a source of inspiration, demonstrating through his actions what it means to live a life dedicated to the service of others.
James is survived by his wife Jacqueline, his sister Judy, his 4 children, Kari, Megan, Greg and Shaun. His Grandchildren, Timothy, Tommy, Katelyn, Christopher, Kyle, Michael, Caden, Gabriel, Lyndsey, Natalie, Jamie, Amber and his great grandchildren, Mason, Blake, Addie, Blair, Noa and Eric. He will forever be remembered by the countless family and friends who admired and cherished him.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced, to celebrate James's life. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide us all, reminding us of the power of dedication, love, and selfless service. Never forgotten, forever loved.
