Judith Viola Rowell Pye, known to everyone as "Judy," 78, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. A lover of people and quick-witted to the very end, Judy left an impression on everyone she met.
Judy was born January 5, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to the late Harry and Betty G. Rowell. She was one of six children, and is survived by her last remaining sibling, Libby Skorupski. Judy graduated from Hanahan High School in 1965, and went on to dedicate over 30 years of her career to South Carolina Federal Credit Union.
A woman of faith, Judy was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness church and an avid supporter of President Donald Trump. She had a lifelong love of Elvis Presley, and cherished nothing more than time spent with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed working with computers and had a special talent for training small dogs.
Judy spent the last decade of her life in Walterboro, South Carolina, before moving to Florida in the spring of 2020 to be near her sister. She spent her final years under the loving care of her sister, Libby Skorupski, and her niece Wendy, and her husband, Jonathon Johnson, to whom the family is deeply grateful.
Judy is survived by her three sons, Joseph W. Pye Jr., Richard L. Pye, and Ronald M. Pye; grandchildren Jessica Pye, Jordan A. Pye, and Justin Johnson; and six great-grandchildren. She was reunited in death with her beloved granddaughter, Katie L. Pye.
No public service is planned. Judy will be laid to rest following cremation.
Judy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
