She was born on July 2, 1963, in Panama City, Florida, and graduated from Mosley High School in 1981. Karen dedicated a significant part of her life to helping others as a social worker, a commitment that reflected her deep empathy and understanding for those in need.

In 1988, Karen joined the Army, proudly serving her country before embarking on a fulfilling civilian career. Her life was marked by a profound love for her family and interests that brought her joy. She had a particular fondness for the beach, often finding peace in the soothing sound of the waves. Her admiration for dolphins and lighthouses spoke to her adventurous spirit and appreciation for the beauty of nature.

She is survived by her wife, Kimberly; her son, Alexander Curtis; her niece, Sherry Sensat; her great-nephew, Morgan Sensat; and her step-son, Nicholas Goodwin.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Londell and Eunice Russ, who undoubtedly instilled in her the values of compassion and resilience that she carried throughout her life.
